Final Post

I really enjoyed the Boston trip and I think it was a great success. I had many favorite parts, from the social scene with my friends to visiting historic sights. One of my favorite places we went was definitely Concord. When I arrived there I could not stop looking around and taking in the sights. It looked just as I would imagine it looked during the Battle of Concord. I could picture the fight perfectly. On top of that it was such beautiful nature all around us, trees, fields, etc. Although it was different than California. Another one of my favorite parts was the Salem graveyard and memorial. It was so old fashion looking and most of the tombstones were hundreds of years old. I love looking at antiques like that and thinking about how long that object has been around. The graveyard was a bit creepy and looked like something right out of a movie, it was really interesting. The memorial was also a highlight for me because I was very intrigued by it somehow. The fact that they made a plaque for every dead "witch" was almost frightening because it reminded me how real the witch trials are. We've just heard about them or read about them, but seeing this right in front of me was pretty shocking. I also really enjoyed learning about Fenway Park because I do like baseball and I never knew any of the facts that I learned about that stadium. Truthfully I do not know what I would change about the trip, everything seemed pretty well done to me. Actually, I would have liked to sleep in a bit longer than we did. 

We visited Boston College and Boston University. I liked BU better because the feel of it was much more inviting to me for some reason. I think I would prefer an urban school because it seems like you would never run out of things to do. Although I am not positive about that. Size-wise, I do not think I would mind a big school at all, I might even prefer it. Although I have not really seen any small schools so it is hard for me to compare. The tours did excite me quite a bit for college, although it was also a bit overwhelming. Being plopped down right in the middle of those schools made it seem very confusing because there are so many options and things going on all at once, so it was a bit dizzying but over all a good experience. 

Boston: Last Day

I can't believe it's already the last day, that's crazy. Today we went to Salem which was really cool. It had an even older and more ancient feel to it than Boston. We saw 200 year old grave stones, and also a memorial to all the "witches" who were killed. Although, as I'm sure everyone has said, it did give away who dies in The Crucible, so it was pretty surprising. We went to another town after Salem and hung around there for a few hours. It was great actually, I thought it was going to be boring but Kyle and I went out and sat on the rocks near the water, and it was one of the most peaceful and beautiful places. We sat there for at least an hour and a half but it only felt like 30 minutes. I wish I had brought my camera. Later that night we went to a play called Shear Madness. It was hilarious. At first I didn't think it would be that great, but then it became amazing. They incorporated the audience into the show and the actors did lots of hysterical improvisation. It was really fun, I laughed a lot. Now I'm going to pack and go to bed soon. Goodbye Boston. 

Boston: Righteous Kill

Today was pretty fun. We went to Boston University in the morning which I liked much better than Boston College. The whole feel and look to it was very inviting although it is a very good school, which I would never be able to go to. Then we went to Harvard Square which was pretty cool, I ate really really good crepes for lunch. We then took a tour of some of Harvard and I learned a lot about the history of the buildings. Most of them are from the 1700's. The buildings in the front entrance were the original military barracks for the colonial army. After that we took the bus to the Lexington battle green where we discussed the battle of Lexington and looked at a plaque showing all the names of the colonial soldiers who fought in the battle of Lexington. We then went to Concord which was really awesome. It was very peaceful, and there was a bridge which lead to a sunny field surrounded by forest. It looked exactly how I pictured the east coast would look. We talked about how the minutemen came down from the field/hill to confront a British force over the bridge. I knew all about that already because I did Lexington and Concord for my project. Then later, we went to the mall where I finally found a Quizno's!!!!!!!! It was amazing, and I followed it with an amazing chocolate crepe except the guy who made them was a jackass. We then saw Righteous Kill with Robert Deniro and of course...AL PACINO!!!! I had wanted to see it for a while, and it was so epic. It was a good day, I had fun and also learned a lot and saw many cool sights. 

Boston: and so the old people danced

So, today we had to eat breakfast at about 7 and get on the bus by 7:15. After that we went to Fenway Park and took a tour with a crazy old man who was actually pretty funny. Since we pretty much traveled around Boston I've been looking at the architecture which is completely different than the West Coast. Everything looks like it has history to it and most of the buildings are old fashioned and built out of bricks. I love the style of the apartments, they look really cool. Next, we walked the Freedom Trail, where we saw the house of Paul Revere and an extremely old church. Later we went to Boston College which was pretty cool. It seems like a really good school, with a lot of different options and opportunities although I don't think I could ever get in or afford it. That night, we took a cruise on a boat where I ate pasta and potatoes. I got to sit with Jo, Matt and Iain which was much more entertaining than I thought it would be. Then we went down to the dancefloor where old people were busting moves. It was pretty awesome, I think that memory will stay with me for a while. It was a pretty good day but I am tired.  

Boston

So we got on the plane and flew for about 5 hours. It was long and uncomfortable but not too bad. Then we went to the Hard Rock Cafe where I devoured a bacon cheese burger. Now we're in our hotel and I'm gonna go get a soda, so peace.
